Gulf Star Sports will provide regular PE lessons, ballet, yoga and even gardening for the first time in a kindergarten.
Experienced and qualified coaches from the sports provider will be offering in-curricular PE lessons for 3-6-year olds for the first time in a Dubai kindergarten. The classes - which will be available at Smart Start nursery- will include Mini Movers, designed to introduce children to natural movement; Tiny Tots Gymnastics, teaching the fundamentals of gymnastic in a safe and fun environment; and Multi-sports, a high-energy class focusing on a different sport every week such as football, athletics, dance and circuits.
Each lesson is designed to promote essential developmental skills in children such as strength, balance, hand-eye coordination and motor skills, which will contribute overall to focus, teamwork, discipline and self-confidence amongst students.
Gordon Reilly, Senior Operations Manager at Gulf Star Sports commented on the partnership; “We are very excited to be offering our esteemed sports programs as part of a pre-school curriculum for the first time. Physical activity is not only essential for gross motor skill development but also for the development of many key skills including self-esteem, collaboration and confidence”.
Gulf Star Sports will also provide enriching extra-curricular activities such as martial arts, dance & performing arts, gymnastics, and a range of sports. In addition, Smart Start will offer its own unique array of activities such as yoga, gardening, robotics and puppetry. The aim will be to foster innovation and entrepreneurship at a young age, as well as a love of learning in each child.
Principal Trish King said of Smart Start’s attention to sport; “Today, research shows that the importance of physical activity in children is stronger than ever, therefore we have chosen to make this a focus at Smart Start and to promote healthy and active lifestyles at an early age. We are fully aware that physical activity stimulates growth and leads to improved physical and emotional health in young children, so sports and activities will play a fundamental part of our curriculum”.
Children at Smart Start will all be active members of the ‘Be Healthy, Be Happy’ program which will cover all aspects of leading healthy lives. As part of the weekly program, children will learn all about health and nutrition, mindfulness, physical activity and key personal and social skills. Most importantly students will be encouraged to feel happy and positive about themselves, their environment and to understand how leading a happy and healthy life can really impact the community and world around them.
