New Classes For Mums and Mums-To-Be
Having a baby can put tremendous pressure on the body. From lower back pain to a weak pelvic floor - but these things can be helped with the right forms of exercise.
Hannah Bennett - a Dubai-based mum of three and a physiotherapist with specific women's health training and experience - at Optimal Fitness explains: “The benefits are two fold, for pregnant ladies the moves help maintain good posture and strengthen the supporting muscles around the lower back, pelvis, shoulders and neck. This type of pilates also helps the body prepare for childbirth.”
After the birth, and once you have the sign off from a doctor, Hannah recommends starting postnatal pilates. She says: “Pilates can help restore the foundations of fitness and go someway to rehabilitating the pelvic floor and abdominal separation.”
And the best thing about the classes is that mums are able to take their babies with them up to one years old.
